As for 422, it means that the color signal of row a and row b is only half the time, i.e. Chroma Subsampling has occurred. Simply put, Cb, Cr images are halved horizontally, meaning that if we send a 3840x2160 image to YCbCr422, only the Y channel is the full size 3840x2160 image, but the Cb/Cr image is horizontally compressed.
